X-Mas 2007
Come one come all! Step right up to the event of the year!
Gravitons are celebrating the release of their debut CD, Raw Reads.
Also celebrating is the relentless and noiseful force of Roman Pilates, a staple of the Toronto underground scene who is constantly giving the people what they want.
The Trio of Michael Snow | John Kamevaar | Aleck Snow have been giving celebrated performances since their debut Flicker Festival performance in 2006. These three form sounds that are both faster than the speed of light and hit harder than a speeding train.
Free Market Records will be present to offer a special discount to our fellow celebrators! Raw Reads by Gravitons will be available for just $5!

Best wishes to you and yours for the new year,

From the promoter (WRT):
Live!!! Tuesday November 6th @ Not My Dog 1012 Queen St w
In association with Wintage Records & Tapes
Gravitons - It takes more than one go at cutting up a chicken to
become an expert. However, once you've got the hang of it, you can cut up a
chicken in very little time and with hardly any effort at all!
Perhaps the most important reason to learn how to cut up a whole chicken is that
it will save you money. Buying a whole chicken is cheaper than buying pieces,
and the leftover parts are ideal for forming the backbone of soup stocks. The
same method can be used for cutting up other fowl like duck or squab. With a
serving of Mani & Jill on the side, expect a full-on flavour explosion.
(Edit: Gravitons are the knife, air
(the medium for sound waves) is the chicken.)
The Warbler - Make your first plunge a gentle one. Initially the bell
is full of air. A hard thrust will force the air back around the seal and blow
water all over the bathroom and you!Once you force out the air, plunge
vigorously in and out, maintaining the seal. You’ll be forcing water both
directions in the drain, which will effectively loosen most clogs. Stick with
it, plunging 15 to 20 times if necessary. Be patient. Try alternating between
steady strokes and occasional monster heaves. If the Problem still persists
check with William A. Davison.
This is a P.W.Y.C. event, show starts @ 10pm

OPEN HART CONCERT SERIES ENDS IN MARCH!
(Click A Tombstone)
_______
March 9th 2007: Rick Sacks|Arraymusic Ten Planets Concert
Friday, March 9th, 2007, concert at 8 p.m. – The Music Room,
Hart House, The University of Toronto; 7:15 p.m. composers’ talk.

Please join Arraymusic as we celebrate the release of Ten Planets, an inspired
CD of intricate music for solo percussion performed by Arraymusic’s ‘true-blue’
Rick Sacks.
Rick will perform several works from the new CD, including The Waldo
by Michael James Baker, Appollo’s Touch by Rodney Sharman,
Glockenspiel by Barbara Monk Feldman and Rick Sack’s own
Ten Planets as well as Factory. Composer Barbara Monk Feldman
will be in attendance at the concert and earlier in the week will give
composers’ talks at the Arraymusic Studio.
Visit our website
www.arraymusic.com for more details.
“These works represent some of the best writing for solo percussion in Canada,”
says Rick. “Each piece contains an interplay between large space and a
more intimate, poetic activity. This collection captures the extremes of
percussion music from gentle lyrcisicm to explosive energy.”
On an earlier 2001 Sacks’ performance of The Waldo, The Globe and Mail
wrote: "Baker’s musical language seemed to have reached its apotheosis –
lyricism, structure, rhythm and melodic line combined seemlessly to provide a
transporting musical experience." The Toronto Star has written: "the mood is
splendidly relentless and gentle at the same time, and also visually
breathtaking, so brilliant and physical is Sacks’ playing."
Artifact Music announces the release of Ten Planets, a recording of solo percussion music by Canadian composers performed by Toronto percussionist Rick Sacks.
This recording is available from Artifact Music (www.artifactmusic.com) and through Centrediscs at the Canadian Music Centre, the Arraymusic website and at www.rixax.com.

Disguises =======================================================================================================
Toronto’s pissed-off and downright reckless fucks stuff powders scraped from scum-punk, freak-rock, tribal primitivism and mystical madness into one deadly cannon that walks the line between composition and improvisation. These days they’re a three piece. Kevin Crump, Kevin Hainey and Jon Shapiro. Disguises make music for people who like to see sounds explode out of instruments. All three members have a solo project and a duo side-project on the go, ‘natch. Bring earplugs. ======================================================================================================= www.myspace.com/disguisesx =======================================================================================================
Gravitons =======================================================================================================
They're recent shows with Jack Vorvis have the noise-nerds abuzz...Toronto favourites Mani and Jill kick out the shredding improvised jams on drums and guitar. Not quite speed-metal, not quite free jazz, but all harsh, fast and chaotic. And hey, they even switch up instrument duties once in a while. Mani also runs www.freemarketrecords.com. ======================================================================================================= www.freemarketrecords.com/gravitons/gravitons.htm =======================================================================================================
Blood Honey =======================================================================================================
Acca-pedal noise makers bent on destroying eardrums everywhere. This colalboration finds Marco Landini, Wolfgang Nessel, Matt Dunn & Kevin Hainey using their outside voices inside buried deep in distorted Cantos of doom and gloom. Again, please, bring earplugs. =======================================================================================================

October 2005
The newest FMR group will be featured in a benefit concert at Sneaky Dees on November the 2nd 2005. GRAVITONS were formerly known as Aston/Mazinani but have since adopted the new physical name. Their brand of non-rock non-jazz non-anything will surely rock you to your skeleton.

As you can see in the poster, this is a benefit concert for a group of young artists who are raising funds for an independent art exhibition. If you would like to support the future of Canadian art, simply drop on Wednesday the 2nd of November at 9pm at Sneaky Dee's <http://www.sneaky-dees.com/> and listen to some great music. If you are into different types of music that uses rock and roll instrumentation, plus a DJ that can make you dance, then you have no reason not to come. If you don't want to come yet you still ant to make a modest or grand donation, please contact Mani @ mani(at)freemarketrecords(dot)com.
